On Tuesday I was in London as my tutor had organised a tour of Hand and Lock, if you are not familiar with the name they are an embroidery company that specialises in hand embroidery, particularly gold work. As well as traditional military badges and uniforms they also create embroidery for fashion houses. The work was so incredible, I plan to go back to do their day course on tambour beading next year. Of course a trip to Liberty is essential when in London and as I don't go very much I took the chance to buy some beautiful Liberty print fabric.
Recently I have had many inductions the different embroidery machines at uni, including the Cornely, Tufter and Irish machine among others. Last week I embroidered a sample with the Irish machine, which you can see below, it is not perfect yet but I hope to master it by the time I finish my degree.
