Over the past week I have been exploring different ways in which to create my jewel motifs with embroidery techniques. The samples are shown in the photos below, the first is an enlarged jewel stitched with textured yarns and beads. I have also cut jewels from thin wood which I stained with ink and then attached to a sheer fabric base. The bottom photos show 'lace' which I created from beads using a jewel motif to create and all-over pattern; the other sample includes embroidery with textured and metallic threads. I have also begun to consider and sketch a few ideas of how these techniques could be used on products. Over the next week I will hopefully begin to make my product ideas.
