Over the past week I've been working on continuing the research for my current project. I've been making a few more jewel themed collages and drawings. Several of my drawings have been drawn to represent embroidery stitches and beads. I have translated one of these into embroidery onto sheer fabric, which can be seen in the photos below. The embroidery uses a variety of stitches including couching, straight stitches and French knots. The fabric is almost invisible so it appears as if the stitches are floating. I've also been testing a few more techniques out to create some samples; the photo below left shows a sample in which I have sewn beads in layers from an old necklace combined with sequins which I snipped into squares.
